Members present: Chair Neal Carpenter, NC; Vince Ammendola, VA; Joe Strauch, JS; Tim Flanagan, TF; Dick Ferren, DF; Rose Fitzgerald Casey, RFC; David Lane, DL
Staff present: Peggy Ammendola, PA

Notice of Intent, Berkshire Natural Resources Council, near Old Baldhead Road, Map 5 Parcel 3.  Construction of a crossing of Shadow Brook with a pedestrian hiking trail.

Presenting the application was Amanda L'Etoile, Trails and Outreach Coordinator for
Berkshire Natural Resources Council.  She said that Peter Jensen, who has had over 25 years of experience in this field, would be in charge of the construction.

Also present was Doug Bruce who is also with Berkshire Natural Resources Council.

TF asked Ms. L’Etoile to provide on the plans the resource area that will be impacted including the banks.  She agreed to present this to TF prior to the next meeting to be sure everything is complete.
Because DEP has not yet assigned a file number, JS made a motion to continue the meeting to June 6, 2013 at 7:45 pm.  TF seconded the motion and the Commission voted to agree 7-0.
There was a site visit related to this project on May 13, 2013 and was attended by NC, TF, Ms. L’Etoile, Mr. Bruce and Abraham (no last name).
Approve Minutes: DF made a motion to approve the minutes of May 9, 2013 with edits.   DL seconded the motion and the Commission approved 7-0.
Other Business: Present was Ruth Wheeler of the Kennedy Park Committee.  (Ms. Wheeler had come to the Land Use office earlier in the day to inquire about the process to remedy a crossing on Greenfield Path, located behind Lenox Commons, in Kennedy Park.  She was encouraged attend tonight’s meeting to speak to the Commission.)  Ms. Wheeler advised the Commission that stringers at this crossing had collapsed.  The Commission told Ms. Wheeler that since the intention was to repair the channel crossing, no filing would be necessary as this would be considered maintenance.
DF told the Commission that he is concerned about a “ravine” on a property located off of Yokun Avenue and he wants the Commission to take action.  He said that he feels the ravine is a result of contouring the land and this has created an uncontrolled stormwater point discharge into Parson’s Marsh. NC said that first it would be necessary to determine who owned the property.  After making that determination NC and DL will make contact with the owner and advise the Commission.
RFC made a motion to adjourn and JS seconded the motion.  The Commission voted to agree and the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Peggy Ammendola
